A Message from the Universe ~ Willpower and Bootstraps
Today’s Message from the Universe advises you to think about the ways in which you approach the things that are difficult but necessary.
We’ve had this idea that overcoming our obstacles just needs us to have the willpower to do so. This is not true at all. Having the “bootstrap” mentality has been hammered into us our entire lives but most of us find out the hard way that you can’t pull yourself up by the bootstraps if you don’t have any boots. This also does not account for the fact that we can both want and not want something at the very same time.
Whether you’re wrestling with mental illness, addiction, housekeeping, or trying to get on the other side of that poverty line, the answer lies in how you structure your environment. Instead of wondering why you can’t even do the things that seem like they should be small, think about how you can make it easier on yourself. Can you cut out some tasks or even people who sap your energy?
You might prep for meals so you don’t have to cook after a long day. Place a can or bag for garbage close to the places where you spend the most time…this also works well for placing things that you want to do regularly. Get that guitar out of the corner and keep the tv remote in the other room. Whatever your difficulties may be, the trick is to anticipate when and where your problem areas will be triggered so you can adjust your environment to make things a little easier. It’s also important to reach out for help if you need it because everybody needs a hand from time to time.
