Daily Card for 4/17/20 – Love is Sufficient unto Love

Published by Trish Nonya on

“Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say ‘God is in my heart,’ but rather, ‘I am in the heart of God.’

And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.”

~Kahlil Gibran

Love is allowing that other person to persue their best path, even if that path does not include you. It is loving yourself enough to persue your best path even if it doesn’t include them. Sometimes two people only bring out the worst in each other and we cling so tightly because of what we think they may become.

Now every relationship has it’s ups and downs but the scales should tip heavier for the good stuff. You will both change and grow, hopefully together, but there must be a willingness on both sides to allow space for individual persuits.
