Spiritual and practical guidance for the week ahead, or whenever you happen to see this 🙂

Today’s Message From the Universe indicates a need to manage your energy.
You may be feeling a little scattered, like there is just too much that needs your attention, or you may be having a difficult time trying to muster the energy you need to get through the day, Whatever your energy levels may be doing right now, there is a great need for your to manage your energy at this time.
So how do you manage your energy?
It’s relatively simple, though it requires you to make time. Note that I said make time. Trying to find the time is just not going to work; you have to make time for your priorities, and this should be placed high on your list. You’re near-future self will thank you for it!
Step 1- Write it all down.
Break out your notebook, pen, and calendar. The goal here is to write down all the tasks and obligations you have over the course of your day, week, and/or month. I find it helpful to track my activities for a few days or weeks using a timer.
It’s easy to forget some of the biggest time and energy eaters, so make sure you add things like cooking dinner, taking showers, and even driving time. You will also want to add regular interactions and tasks you do for others.
Step 2 – Evaluate.
Now you’re going to look for all the unnecessary tasks and obligations in what you’ve written. Are you doing things for someone that they should be doing or learning to do for themselves? Are you doing some things out of habit that are no longer necessary? Are there any tasks or obligations you can lump together or make more efficient in some way? What days or times of day do you have the most and least energy?
Step 3 – Take action.
Now it’s time to act upon the things you’ve found in your evaluation. Hand responsibilities back to who they belong to, drop whatever else you can, then prioritize the rest. You’re not going to find ways to fit all the leftover stuff, though; you’re going to create a budget for your time and energy, then figure out where everything fits.
It’s important to note that your budget should be more of a guideline than a rule. This allows for a little flexibility to accommodate the unforeseen things that pop up from time to time. I know this can seem almost impossible when your plate is already so full and spilling out everywhere, but that is when you need this the most!
A few things that help me:
Use a weekly to-do list.
One of the biggest things that helps me, as someone with physical challenges and neuro-spiciness, is making my to-do list a weekly thing instead of a daily thing. I still have a daily routine, but this allows me the flexibility to have necessary “minimal effort” days without getting behind.
Set timers.
I can get super absorbed into something I’m working on, sometimes making hours pass in the blink of an eye. I have several timers set throughout the day to let me know when it’s time to move on to the next thing. This works great for things like social media as well.
Choose the best days for appointments.
While I can’t always get my preferred date and time, I do what I can to make sure I don’t have more than one doctor or similar appointment in a week. You might like to lump them all together as much as possible, but either way, you’re creating these appointments with your current schedule and energy levels in mind.
Get the quick stuff done right away.
Five minutes here, two minutes there, it adds up quickly! Try to get these tasks out of the way as soon as they come up. Those little bits can take up an awful lot of mental space! Of course, this is flexible as well. You may find that designating a day to attend to all the little bits may work better for you.
Create routines and systems.
Adding a little structure to your day can be incredibly helpful, especially if you prefer to wing it. You don’t have to create a rigid structure. Just doing your everyday things in the same order removes a lot of the mental load and flows in a way that makes them move more quickly.
Reevaluate on a regular basis.
Like most things, maintenance keeps things running smoothly. I do a deep dive roughly once a year, but I like to do quick check-ins for each quarter of the year. How often you check in will depend on how often things are changing at the time.
Don’t forget to make time for yourself!
This is so much more important than you may realize! When you are happy and well-rested, everything else flows more easily. When you’re tired or miserable, everything is that much more difficult and time-consuming.
This is another one of those things for which you must make time. Even if you just start with ten minutes a day, that’s enough to meditate or do a little journaling. You should definitely try for more than ten minutes, but it’s a good start! It’s important to note, as well, that this is analog time – no screens – you can do it!
Taking the first step
The key to managing your energy is to start somewhere. Pick one or two of these suggestions that resonate with you the most and try them out. Whether it’s making a weekly to-do list or setting a timer for social media, every small change adds up. The goal isn’t perfection, but progress.
Take that first step today and watch your energy shift đź’™
