Spiritual and practical guidance for the week ahead, or whenever you happen to see this 🙂

Today’s Message From the Universe reminds you that true strength is not about how physically strong you are, how loud you can yell, or how well you can hold back the tears. It often resides in your ability to find your center when everything around you is in chaos.
Difficult feelings are important!
You may be experiencing some difficulties in your personal world or feeling the weight of the entire planet right now. It’s not easy, but it is necessary. Your anger and rage, your grief and shame – these are not punishments or lessons, but catalysts for change.
Maybe you need to draw boundaries or cut ties, or maybe you realize that you’d like to live your life a little differently. Get active in your community, make an intentional decision to show your love and gratitude more often, or become determined to stop abandoning yourself. Your feelings are not just valid, they’re incredibly valuable!
Do not try to distract, avoid, or stuff these feelings down, but don’t let them cause you to act and react in a way that you will regret when the heat of the moment has cooled. Let yourself feel them fully so you can process them, but you don’t want to live there.
Let these hard feelings fuel your determination and inspire your art, but learn how to get quiet and center yourself in peace.
Losing your shit is not helpful in any situation.
Similarly, being in a prolonged place of high tension or despair doesn’t just take its toll on your body and mental health – it greatly affects your ability to make sound decisions. Your ability to calm yourself is paramount to your well-being and the well-being of those around you.
So, how do you get to that place of peace?
Learn some basic exercises and practice them, especially during times when they’re not needed. Finding your center on a regular basis helps to ensure you will be able to find it when you need it the most.
If you’re in the moment:
(I’ve added a graphic below so you can save it for quick reference.)
- Remove yourself from the chaos if possible.
This might be telling someone you need a few minutes to collect yourself, or even just taking a few steps back from something that is happening in front of you. This could even be more of a longer-term thing, such as not taking calls from someone until you’ve had a chance to sort yourself. - Stabilize your body.
Sitting with your feet firmly on the floor is the ideal position, but choose what feels best for you or the situation. - Deep breaths!
Close your eyes and take at least 3 long, deep breaths. Try the 4-7-8 method: Inhale through your nose for 4 counts, hold your breath for 7 counts, and exhale through your mouth for 8 counts. - Look around you.
Open your eyes and find 3 things around you that are currently stationary. This could be a piece of furniture, a wall, etc. - Listen.
Identify one sound that isn’t the noise of the problem, such as the sound of a fan or the wind through the trees. - Now take a few more deep breaths.
It should now be a little easier for you to observe and assess the situation in a manner that will help you decide the best course of action (or inaction).
Practice, practice, practice!
Make it a habit to do this on a regular basis. Not only will it become natural to you in the heat of the moment, it will help you to establish this peaceful center as a baseline in your everyday life.
Ideally, you should do this at least once a day, but since it’s a new habit, you may have to work a little extra at making it a practice. Set some gentle alarms, try using a behavior tracker, or ask someone you love to remind you. It’s also a great idea to stack it onto a habit you’ve already established, such as brushing your teeth or right before a meal.
Just remember, this is a skill that can be created and honed, not something you’re automatically capable or not capable of. You can teach yourself to do this and create a life where peace is your normal state of being.
Take care of yourself, beautiful soul, and take care of your neighbors 🩵
