There is a very loud message here for someone who has spent a lot of time and effort in recovery from addiction. There may be something happening now that makes you want to pick that habit right back up and this is your reminder to remember why you quit in the first place. Remember this why and reinforce your commitment to yourself.
Though the addiction message is loud, that is not the only situation being addressed here. You have put so much effort into making some pretty big lifestyle changes so remember the “why” and don’t let slip-ups make you feel like you failed. You just got off course a bit, get yourself back on track, and remember that you did not undo all the hard work you put in.
Don’t just remember why you’re doing this, visualize it and make yourself feel the outcome you’re moving towards. Now might be a good time to talk to a supportive friend, or maybe partner up with someone trying to make a similar change. Redefine tools and triggers as they will shift and change as you grow. Now, get back on that horse, you got this!!
