The name of this game is procrastination! Whether you are putting off some small daily tasks or avoiding a big step into something entirely new, the advice is the same: make it happen!
If you’re having trouble finding the motivation to do some of those daily tasks…
Your best bet is to find ways to inject a little fun into the mix. Crank up the music and/or see if you can turn it into a game of sorts. It might also be helpful to break it up into smaller chunks to help it seem a little less daunting. Give yourself a nice treat when you finish each stage!
If you’re hesitating to make moves on something new…
You are being reminded that the longer you wait, the harder it will be to make that move. All your “what-ifs” and doubts are simply your fear creating excuses. The outcome is not as important as the action in this case. Your actions will place you exactly where you need to be.
It will also do you some good to remember that “beginner’s brain” is a thing.
When you step into the new, there will be much that you don’t know. You will be learning through this experience. No matter how much you prepare, you’re going to feel like you don’t know what you’re doing until you’ve had a bit of time to acclimate. Leave expectations behind as they will only complicate things. Move instead with curiosity and flexibility.
