A Message from the Universe ~ Show Them How It’s Done!
Today’s Message from the Universe reminds you that you need nurturing just as much as those you nurture.
I love seeing these two cards together! It’s a reminder of the duality that exists in all of us.
When we think about an archetypal mother, we think of nurturing others and sacrificing herself. We often forget that a mother is also a force to be reckoned with.
I was watching “Queens” yesterday. It’s a National Geographic series on Disney that showcases the female aspect of different animals around the globe. Yesterday’s episode followed a mama bear and her cubs.
She nursed her cubs with very little in her own belly, fought off a huge male who was a known cub killer, and just kept going despite those difficulties and so much more! As the cubs became ready to eat solid food, she didn’t just feed them.
At this point, she was digging for clams because the good eats were guarded carefully by several males. She sniffed out a clam and, opening it with a broken paw, slurped it down…her first taste of food pretty much since coming out of hibernation. She then gave one clam to the cubs to give them a taste and then went back to digging for her own food. The cubs saw how it was done and began to do just as she had done.
She was driven to care for her cubs but also needed to care for herself which can seem nearly impossible at times for any of us who care for little ones. But it’s so important! Suppose she just gave up or was killed by the male. It’s entirely possible that none of them would have made it.
Even more importantly, every move she made showed her cubs how to survive.
I’m afraid that most of us have been conditioned since birth to sacrifice our well-being in an effort to do and be all the things. Kind of like a superhero without any of the recognition and appreciation.
However, while we treat ourselves as something almost disposable, or allow others to treat us this way, our children and others who look up to us are learning to do the same. Let’s show them how to give and receive with healthy boundaries. Show them how to care for themselves as much as you care for them.
They are the future and I think we have an opportunity here to make the future of our society so much better than the present!
