I talk a lot about boundaries and cutting toxic people from our lives but forgiveness is not something that comes out often when I draw cards for these messages. However, it’s an important step in every healing journey and helps us to release those heavy emotional burdens we carry.

Forgiveness of others

Forgiveness often seems like the wrong word to use in these situations but the meaning of many words changes over time. Forgiving someone who wronged you does not mean what they did was ok and viewing these people and situations through the lens of compassion doesn’t necessarily mean you feel bad for them.

It’s about knowing where the behavior comes from which helps you to realize just how little it has to do with you. You understand that they would behave that way with others as well. It’s about letting go of the anger and despair that holds your energy captive and keeps you from your peace.

Forgiveness of self

We are our own worst enemies. We can be so cruel to ourselves in our thoughts and actions in a way that we would never even treat a stranger, let alone someone we love. You may be carrying guilt that is not yours to bear or putting yourself down because of a mistake you made.

We are human! We all make mistakes, they’re an important part of our life journey. It is our mistakes that teach us all the most important life lessons that just don’t have a sense of that importance unless we experience them for ourselves. This is how we grow and heal and learn to love ourselves!

However you may be dancing with this energy, be as compassionate with yourself as you would with someone you love.
