A Message From the Universe ~ Order and Structure
Today’s Message from the Universe indicates that there is an imbalance concerning structure and order.
Whether you have little to no order in your life and home or too much, there is a need now to bring more balance to this area. You don’t want to be so disorganized that you are overwhelmed and you don’t want to be so rigid that there is no room for change and improvement. As always, balance is key and balance may look a little different for everyone.
If you’re having trouble with not having enough order in your life
You might feel like you’re drowning and that you might never get your head above water. There is often some expectation you think you must meet or someone’s opinion that rattles around your brain causing shame and self-loathing. Those opinions belong to people who do not have to walk in our shoes and those expectations are nothing more than your acceptance of others’ opinions as fact. Just try to do a little better today than you did yesterday.
When I’m feeling at my lowest or even just my busiest, I use the 5-minute rule. I might tell myself that every time I go to the bathroom, I’ll bring one thing with me to put away or I’ll do 5 minutes worth of dishes. I might decide to tick off an item or two from my work tasks that will take under 5 minutes of my time. The best thing is that you’re actually tricking your brain because you usually end up doing more. Even if I don’t do more, my brain still receives signals that I’ve accomplished something and sends out reward chemicals which make me feel a little better while making my next quick task a little easier to start.
Define which tasks are a priority, and break them down into smaller steps. When trying to organize clutter, don’t be too detailed because you want to eliminate as many steps as possible. organize by how frequently you use things. Have baskets wherever you tend to use and place frequently used items such as by the door or next to your favorite chair.
If the manner in which you approach your tasks and daily life is too rigid
You may feel like you can’t have a moment to yourself because you must do all the things, and all the things must be done perfectly. Anyone who falls on this end of the spectrum who has been sick knows just how quickly all the things fall apart without your full attention. You might even be someone who is surrounded by clutter because you must make one thing perfect before moving on to the next and making even small things “perfect” eats up a LOT of time. Try instead a quick cleanup of the general area/task then you can hit the details in a more efficient way. You may also be taking care of things that are not actually yours to take on.
The health of your mind, body, and spirit relies on your ability to rest, have time to yourself, and even do fun things on a regular basis. Continuing to take on responsibilities that should belong to someone else can make downtime almost impossible. I’m talking to the moms out there bigtime! Your kids can do more than you give them credit for, you might start adding small tasks to their routines and increase the tasks as the previous tasks have become a regular thing. Even a toddler can help to pick up their toys.
Most of the time the only difference between being on top of things and being buried is the health of our mind, body, and spirit.
Make sure that is the top priority, always. Not just for yourself but for the people you love and care for. How can you be present with them and enjoy the moment if you spend all your energy trying to make things perfect or trying to fit someone else’s unrealistic expectations?
