On Darkness & Light
Helloooo beautiful soul!
I know I’m not the only one who has been exceedingly busy this past month or so, but I’m feeling things ease up a bit now and hope you are too! Today I want to talk about those things in the world and our lives that can make us wonder how such awful things exist.
We often feel helpless when faced with terrible things no matter how minuscule or infinitely large they seem. It’s at these times, when we feel helpless and even hopeless, that we must remind ourselves and others of what is good in this world.
You see, the awful things are so much louder than the good things but I truly believe the good things are so much more in both number and power.
Human kindness and compassion don’t get ratings and clicks. Fear and despair are what make money and everything from the news, to social media, to ads is meant to invoke your fear to better fill the bank accounts of the shit-stirrers.
We are better than that, we just have to remind ourselves of it as much as possible!
There have been so many times in my life when I wondered if the good even existed. but then I remembered that I exist and then I recalled the others I’ve met throughout my life. There have been far more truly good people in my life than terrible ones. It’s a little easier to see the longer you’ve walked this Earth.
The best thing about goodness, kindness, and love? They just keep multiplying! They begin in our hearts and find their way to the people in our lives and out into the great, big, world.
Our kindness ripples throughout space and time. This is why random acts of kindness are contagious and smiles are superpowers! A smile can change someone’s life even as it uplifts our own mood. You smile at them and they pass it on to someone else who will pass it to the next.
It’s time we start getting louder!
💙 Trish
What I’ve Been Doing
My days are starting to slow down to my usual pace. I enjoy being productive but value my peace and life beyond what needs to be done! I’ve reprioritized my tasks
I spent all day Thursday in classes and testing to become a consultant for the database/productivity app I’ve been using and I’m over the moon about it!

What I’m Reading
Still listening to these audiobooks➡️I’ve been going back and forth with listening to The Wolves of Calla, the 5th book of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, and The Talisman, a book written by both King and Peter Straub.
I’m also still reading Daughter of Fire by Sofia Robleda. It’s such a good book but I’m an incredibly slow reader these days! It’s historical fiction set in the aftermath of the Spanish invasion of South America.

What I’m Watching
As you can see by the quote, I’m still watching The Rings of Power series (Prime), a prequel to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books and movies.
Amazon seems to have cornered the market on fantasy and they’re putting out some quality stuff! They even came out with a new Mythica movie and I enjoyed it thoroughly!
I also have Prime trials to give out, specifically a 6-month trial for students, details under the “Free Stuff” heading 🙂
I started watching Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn (Apple TV) and It’s great! It’s hilarious, well-written, and has more twists and turns than a mountain pass!
I’m on a 3-month free trial of Apple TV and will probably just watch a couple more things before it ends. I usually have a few other streaming services that I get with $2 and $3 deals but I’ve ended them because I just don’t need so many damn choices lol
What I’m Listening To
Music is life! I listen to a variety of music from Taylor Swift to heavy metal and rap. Currently, I’m listening to a lot of “hoe rap” lol but the one song I have on replay right now is Little Girl Gone by Chinchilla. YouTube threw this one at me a couple of weeks ago and I just can’t stop listening to it! I never heard of her before but she’s amazing and it’s such a powerful song!
Free Stuff
- 6 months of free Amazon Prime for college students or for those between the ages of 18-24 (expires 10/31/24).
- 30 Free days of Amazon Prime for anybody who hasn’t had one in a while.
- If you’re on US government assistance programs like SNAP you can get Amazon Prime for half the price plus you can still get the 30-day free trial!
