When Myk shows up on his head he indicates that you are hyper-focusing on details. It is one thing to be detailed, it’s a whole other thing to be nitpickedy.

When you become too focused on a specific area it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. Sometimes we feel the need to hyper-focus because we feel we can at least do something with that when everything else is beyond our control. Sometimes it’s an unhealthy need for perfection from ourselves or others and sometimes it’s a fabulous excuse to avoid doing the thing we don’t want to do.

Some of you may be looking for signs in every little thing but ignoring actual signs because you don’t like them or they don’t fit your expectation. You can attach meaning to anything if you try hard enough but that’s not really how it works and it’s a sure way to confuse yourself and project what you want rather than what is.

Whatever your obsessing over, it’s time to take a break and look at the big picture. If you need to come back to it you can do so with a fresh point of view. Think of it like writing a book. Most novelists will write out the whole story, saving corrections and some of the more difficult details for the second draft. Once they have the whole story, the finer details are easier to attend to because they’re informed by the big picture.
