A Message from the Universe ~ Shadow Work & The Inner Child

Today’s Message from the Universe encourages you to examine your relationship with your parents and childhood.

There comes a time when we realize that our parents were just people. We understand that how they raised us, or chose not to raise us, wasn’t a reflection of who we were even though it contributed largely to who we became. Of course, we can know this on the surface while still carrying those wounds and beliefs on a deeper level.

This is the time when we must begin to address the unhealed parts of ourselves that stem directly from our upbringing. We learn to discard the blame because it does not contribute to our healing. Yes, they may have been the cause of some pretty awful or even wonderful things but the way through and forward is our responsibility alone. We must comfort and encourage the child that still exists in our hearts. Provide nurturing to ourselves and our inner child if we have been neglected, loyalty if we were abandoned, and peace if we grew up in survival mode.

Making the choice to heal ourselves is the very foundation of self-love and enforcing that decision with action is the basis of shadow work. The term “shadow work” sounds kind of scary, but our shadow is where the most valuable treasures are kept. Every time you felt like you weren’t good enough, every time you’ve been told certain “normal” things were wrong or out of your reach, every time you loved and were treated cruelly, you placed the shiniest parts of yourself in the dark. It’s now time to shed some light into those dark corners of your mind and re-examine your beliefs about yourself and the world around you.
