A Message from the Universe ~ Kindness and Compassion for Yourself
Today’s Message from the Universe wants to show you what self-love really is.
You’ve recently made a decision that has altered the course of your life. You, who may not have had the best relationship with yourself, made this difficult decision for your own well-being. That is the real definition of self-love.
Loving yourself does not mean you don’t see your flaws. It means you accept them for what they are, change what you are able to change, and learn to work with what is not in your ability to “fix”. Self-love is not something that just happens one day and never again needs your attention. It is a conscious choice you make in every moment to prioritize your well-being, treating yourself with kindness and compassion when you make a mistake or find yourself in a place of vulnerability.
It’s learning to respond to your destructive thoughts with that same kindness and compassion, as you would respond to someone you love who says those things about themself. It is resting when you are tired and saying “no” to people and things you know are not good for you.
I’m hearing that at least one of you may have recently fallen off the wagon regarding sobriety or even a person you’ve tried to stay away from. Be kind to yourself, relapse happens. It doesn’t mean you have to start over, just try not to let the “fuck-its” take over. You might think of your sobriety like your breath in meditation. You acknowledge the stray or even obsessive thoughts and just keep bringing your focus back to your breath.
You (all of you!!!) have made so much progress and that has not changed! Here you are berating yourself for your lack of control but it’s almost certain that this questionable move evoked a completely different feeling and reaction than it did when you first swore it off. These things come back around from time to time in order for us to process them from our current place and understanding. This strengthens your foundation and makes it a little easier the next time you’re staring it in the eye.
